I have been neglecting my blog more than I should be. I apologize. I hope to come up with a regular posting schedule soon to keep myself accountable.
On the upside, Camp NaNoWriMo is starting up again!
(This year’s theme is a Garden. You plant the seed of your story and nurture it all month, watching it grow into a full-blown novel.)
I participated in both of the Camp NaNoWriMo sessions last year, as well as the original NaNoWriMo in November.
I prefer Camp NaNoWriMo to the November NaNo. I like that the Camp is more relaxed, allowing you to pick any type of project as well as your own word count. I also like the Camp NaNoWriMo Cabins, which is a chat room of yourself and 11 other writers. Its like your support group!
At the moment I’m in the planning stages of my novel. And I’ve hit a road block; I have no idea how I am going to continue the story. I have an idea of how I want it to end, but I’m not sure how to get there.
I also have another planning related problem. My interest in my story keeps waxing and waning. One moment I’m very excited about it, and I can’t wait to start writing. The next moment I feel like it is the most boring and predictable plot and I begin to consider writing a different story for Camp NaNoWriMo.
It was while I was in one of those phases that I came up with a solution to give my book more, for lack of a better word, volume. I decided that I would add one or two subplots.
Now, I am very excited about this idea because I’ve never considered it before and it seems now to be the very solution I have been looking for to give many of my stories more content. Also, it should help to keep the reader’s interest. Hopefully it will allow me to jump over periods of time without making it sound like I am rushing through the story.
Now I just need to make myself stick with this story and make sure I finish plotting it before April, when Camp NaNoWriMo officially begins!
Are you taking part in Camp NaNoWriMo? What has you experience been with it in the past? Also, do you have any advice for how to get over writer’s block?

Hmmm, writer’s block? That’s a very good question. One thing I like to do is get out and get involved with other writers. It doesn’t even have to be physically. I love Virtual Write-Ins. If you search Youtube for Virtual Write-ins, you will find some awesome ones, either from Tamara Woods, Word Nerds or Nanowrimo Official.
They’re great because you get to write along with others while not having to leave the comfort of your home.
I just find it inspiring to write along with others. Now, that might not help if you don’t have an idea of what to write but I do find that when I work with others, ideas have a tendency to flow better.
Also, google/bing image search. For a challenge I am doing this month called 30in30, I have used bing images to find visual prompts for fics.

Thank you so much for the advice; it definitely helps! I’ll try the suggestions; hopefully it should get the creative juices flowing. 🙂 (I’ll also keep them in mind for the next time I get stuck with Writer’s Block.)

If you know how you want the novel to end, but you get stuck getting there, I would just write the end first. Something may happen that will spark and idea on what you can write to get there. Sometimes writing out of order helps.
