I’ve always liked the Chimney Sweep, or Step in Time scene from Mary Poppins.
I loved watching them dance, and when I was little I would get an umbrella from the garage and use it to dance along. My favorite part of this scene is when they all go down the chimney into the Banks’ house, and continue dancing. All the household staff is getting into it, as well as Mrs. Banks. Imagine being Mr. Banks and walking in on a bunch of filthy chimney sweeps dancing around in your pristine home.
It reminds me a bit of Me Ole’ Bamboo, from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Now for an interesting fact. Did you know, that the Chimney Sweeps from Mary Poppins make an appearance in a scene from Enchanted? Do you remember the adorable elderly people in the park during That’s How You Know? They were Chimney Sweeps! Check it out for yourself, at the time 1:04.
Does anyone remember the end credits from Night at the Museum?
It seems to me like a bit of a reference to Dick Van Dyke’s older Disney days.
So, how would you have answered this question?
